The sit-at-home order by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, turned deadly in Onitsha, the commercial nerve of Anambra State as no fewer than six persons were alleged shot dead by security agents.

At the end of the clash, MASSOB claimed three of the six men killed were its members named Sunday Idom, Emeka Ibe and Okechukwu Okoro.

The Biafran group alleged that their members were allegedly shot dead by soldiers at Bida Road, Onitsha, where five others were also said to have been critically injured.

It was equally gathered that some group of boys suspected to be MASSOB members set ablaze a Police patrol van at Oba Junction.

However, Commander 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, Col. T. A. Gagariga told journalists that he was not also aware that Soldiers shot and killed MASSOB members, adding that he was aware that some MASSOB members who were on patrol with their vehicles, had a fatal accident at Modebe Avenue junction by Iweka Road which led to the instant death of two of them while some others sustained serious injuries.
