The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, says it will hold a peaceful procession on Wednesday to mark its 17 years anniversary.

Apostle Ezichukwu, the group’s religious administrator, made this known while speaking with reporters in Onitsha on Monday.

He promised that during the procession, participants would not harass anybody or disrupt peoples’ business, but urged the government not to use its security operatives to disrupt the event.

Ezichukwu, who reiterated that the procession would not be violent, urged the residents including traders and civil servants to go about their normal activities.

He said that the struggle of Ralph Uwazuilke-led MASSOB, now called Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), did not encourage violence.

“We have warned members against violent behavior,” he said.

“The procession will be peaceful and there will be no sit-at-home.”

Ezichukwu said the group was working toward non-violence self-determination for the people.

“We have been marginalised for years in a country we believed we helped to build and should be part of.

“MASSOB faithful are in a two-day prayer to ensure free celebration.” NAN
