Married man arrested for attempting to rape 19-year-old boy

A 46-year-old married man, Charles Owula has been arrested by the police in Abuja for allegedly attempting to rape one Chidi Uzokwu, 19, at the Abuja terminus of the Abia Line Transport Company.

Owula, a father of four, was apprehended by policemen attached to the Utako Division while attempting to force his way on the victim, who is a car washer at the terminus.

While talking to newsmen, Uzokwu said the 46-year-old had approached him and asked him to stop washing cars and take up the unholy affair so that he could be rich and drive expensive cars like he did.

He said, “I had just bought bread and soft drink for my lunch when he approached me and asked me why a fine boy like me would choose to engage in a job like car washing.

“I told him that I was with my elder sister who was maltreating me and I had no other place to go than to do this business. That was when he told me that I would be rich if I allowed him to have anal sex with me.

“I was scared. I went and told the manager of the park who told me to ignore him. He pleaded that I gave him my phone number, which I did based on advice from another colleague of mine and throughout that night, he kept calling me, telling me romantic things.”

The 19-year-old further said, the father of four came back the next day with two different bags which he handed to him, pleading with him that he would get more of such nice “goodies” if he had sex with him.

“I went back and informed my manager and other drivers that the man had come back and was pestering my life but they still told me to ignore him. But I was surprised when I thought that he had gone as he showed up in the rest room where I had to ease myself.

“I got the shock of my life when Owula grabbed me from behind, used one hand to cover my mouth and at the same time trying to force down my trouser, attempting to rape me”, he added.

“It was at this point that I raised an alarm and other park workers came to my rescue,” Uzokwu further revealed.

It was learnt that the timely intervention of the police saved Owula from been lynched by staff of the transport company as he was taken away.
