Senate President, David Mark, has called on Nigerians to turn to God for prayers as it is only through it the nation can wriggle out of its current security, political and economic challenges. This was as he expressed optimism that God will heal the land “only if we turn to Him to salvage the myriads of crises facing the nation.”
Mark, who made this call in his Abuja official residence while addressing members of the Youth Prayer Network of Nigeria, (YPNN) as they flagged off ‘national prayers to heal the nation’ stated that: “what the country is passing through at the moment is a test of our faith. We must be steadfast in our prayers that God will save Nigeria.
“What we need now as a nation is sincerity of purpose; sincerity on the part of everybody: the government and the people. With prayers, our country will see the end of this insurgency and God will totally heal our land,” he asserted.
Restating his call for free, fair and credible elections in 2015, the Senate President pointed out that Nigerians should continue to do the right thing both in the presence of God and in the sight of men.
He further requested youths across the country to embrace the network as the needed agents of positive change towards building a greater Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Coordinator of the YPNN, Rev. Father Charles Ndubuisi said youths across the nation have come together to raise their voices to God amid the lingering crises facing the nation and to solicit change of attitude among the younger generation.
He explained that the group came together to offer prayers to God to end the issues of insecurity, corruption and unemployment in the country, saying, “We have come together to raise our voices to God. The future belongs to young people and as youths by implication, we are praying for ourselves too”.
Rev. Father Ndubuisi called on Nigerians to believe in Nigeria and develop friendship across board just as he expressed hopes that Nigeria will overcome her present challenges.
Highpoint of the event was the decoration of the Senate President as the Worthy Ambassador of the YPNN.
