The immediate past Senate President, Senator David Mark has called for the review of the nation’s Education curriculum in order to the meet the needs of challenging times and provide solutions to problems.
This, he opined has become imperative to shift education from the traditional theoretical approach to practical solutions to problems in tandem with the global trend of qualitative and functional education.
According to a statement issued by the lawmaker’s Media Assistant, Paul Mumeh, the former Senate President disclosed this at the 2015 graduation ceremony of El-Amin International School, Minna, Niger state on Saturday,
Stressing that such a review would equip students with the basic critical thinking skills to enable them make sense of the world around them, he said, “This proposal would adequately equip and empower students with knowledge, discipline and independence with potential to become great leaders in Nigeria tomorrow”.
To the graduates , Senator Mark reminded them that their journeys into adulthood have just began, adding that, ” you will have to work exceedingly hard to be successful in your future career . You will have to strive hard to reach the standards of your role models and even surpass them”.
He told them that the journey to adulthood was not always smooth but they should correctly define their paths to success, saying ” believe in yourself and dream big”.
Senator Mark told them to always reflect on good attributes and harp on those positive things that brings peace, unity and progress of Nigeria at all times.
Former Head of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar in his remarks told the graduates that the future of Nigeria rests with youths and advised them to follow the path of honesty, honour and integrity in the pursuit of their career in the years ahead.
Executive Director of the School, Dr. Mohammed Babangida said the school provides total education that offers students opportunity to discover their talents. He added that the school moulds students as future leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs needed to build a better nation.
The ceremony was the 16th graduation ceremony of the college founded by former First Lady, late Mrs. Mariam Babangida over 22 years ago.
