Mario Gotze officially informs Dortmund that he wants to join Bayern Munich


Former Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund, have confirmed that star player Mario Gotze, is set to leave the club for Bayern Munich in the summer.

The 20-year-old has a release clause of around €37 million in his contract, which runs till 2016 and his agent Volker Struth, has informed the club that they want to invoke the buy-out clause.

Dortmund have however made it clear, that they have not received an official offer for the midfielder.

“Germany international Mario Gotze and his agent Volker Struth have informed Borussia Dortmund that Gotze wants to use his exit clause and join Bayern Munich per July 1, 2013,” a statement on the official BVB Facebook page read.

“Sporting director Michael Zorc and head coach Jurgen Klopp ask all the BVB fans to unconditionally support Mario Gotze in the remaining games of the season, in particular in the crucial Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

“No official representative of Bayern Munich has contacted Borussia Dortmund about this matter up until today.”

Hans-Joachim Watze, the club’s chief, admitted that the player’s transfer away from the club, is a huge blow, but insisted that he and his agent acted within their rights.

“We are obviously very disappointed, but want to stress that both Mario and his agent behaved conform the terms of his contract,” he said.
