Juventus veteran midfielder, Claudio Marchisio on Friday ended his contract that will expire in 2020 with the Serie A champions by mutual agreement after 25 years at the club.
The Turin born made his first professional debut in Serie B in 2006 after Juventus were relegated following the Calciopoli corruption scandal.
Marchisio played 389 times for the Bianconeri, scoring 37 goals and winning seven league titles and four Coppas Italia.
“Having had the opportunity to accompany him on this path, to discover a homegrown champion, day by day, was quite simply a privilege and an honour,” Juventus said in a statement.
He suffered a serious knee injury in April 2016 which ruled him out for six months.
Marchisio made 20 appearances in all competition for the club last season.
The midfielder who took to his twitter account @ClaMarchisio8 said, “I can not stop looking at this photograph and these stripes on which I wrote my life as a man and a footballer.
”I love this shirt to the point that, despite everything, I am convinced that the good of the team comes first. Always..”
Juventus on the other hand wrote: “Twenty-five years have passed since Claudio put on the black and white shirt for the very first time. He was aged just seven with a mad desire to play for his hometown club and a head full of dreams.
“His dream back then, as he has so often retold, was to wear the very same shirt in front of thousands of fans, fighting for the most coveted trophies that the beautiful game has to offer.”
