As the March 28 date for Nigeria’s presidential election draws near, no fewer than 500 pastors congregating under the auspices of Northern Christian Leaders Eagle Eye Forum yesterday pledged their unalloyed support for the standard flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
Speaking during an interactive forum with General Buhari, who is a former head of state, Chairman of the forum, Pastor Habu Aminchi, openly declared his members’ support for Buhari, noting that time has come for Nigeria to think of the nation’s future and forgo temporal benefits.
Pastor Aminchi further explained that the forum was throwing its support behind Buhari as a result of the enormous decay in the system as witnessed under the present government led by President Goodluck Jonathan.
He went on to plead with the APC presidential candidate to ensure that the country is returned to its glorious standing in the world before corruption and religious discrimination destroy it.
In his response, General Buhari, who expressed happiness at the endorsement stressed that he was not surprised as the nation in general is tired of mediocrity and religious propaganda as being perpetuated by the ruling party.
He further stated that dividing Nigeria along religious line was no longer acceptable.
High point of the meeting which took place at the International Conference Centre in Abuja was the group’s presentation of a copy of the Holy Bible to their preferred candidate for the March 28 election.
