She further noted that the flood also rendered many people homeless but thanked God that no life was lost.
According to her: “I just came back from Ohaozara. The damage was too much, in short, I don’t know how to describe what happened. I have not witnessed such thing in Ohaozara. It was too much and the damage was over billions of naira.
“The flood displaced a lot o families, if you watch it, you will see the damages. Even most of the buildings collapsed, farmlands and other things were destroyed. Many people are no longer staying in their residence. Uncountable houses were affected by the flood.
“It affected about seven villages. We call on federal government for assistance. You need to see what people are passing through there. We seriously need assistance. It is a natural disaster and we didn’t know what caused it. But all the same, we need assistance from the federal government.
“We in the local government have been assisting since yesterday the flood took place. We still need the state and Federal Governments to assist us.
When asked on the real cause of the flood, she said “So many people said it was because of the dredging of Esu River that caused it but I don’t think so. I am talking based on what I saw. Personally, I don’t know the cause and I have never witnessed such thing in Ohaozara LGA,” she stated.
