Many killed as herdsmen strike in Benue

Several persons have been reported killed and many others injured after suspected herdsmen attacked The Taavaan, in Mbadwem, Guma LGA of Benue State.

Reliable sources told DAILY POST that among those killed was a community leader, Mr. Clement Kulugh.

Residents of the community have fled their homes for fear of further attacks from the herdsmen.

However, when DAILY POST contacted the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, he said the command was yet to be briefed on the development.

“Well, we have not gotten such report.”

But a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Samuel Ortom on Media and ICT, James Igbudu, while confirming the report said the deceased was his brother.

Mr. Igbudu, a native of Mbadwem, said as at this morning, the corpse of Mr, Kulugh was still lying at the scene of the incident.

“Yes, the attack happened in my village. As we speak, residents of the community have fled and the corpse is still lying on the ground there,” Mr. Igbudu said.
