Many feared killed as bomb blast rocks Mubi town, Adamawa

Many were Tuesday feared killed as bomb exploded in a Mosque at Mubi town , Adamawa.

The explosion occurred at a mosque in Wuro-Burode near yan Gwajo part of Mini.

The blast occurred Tuesday afternoon while worshippers were holding Zuhr (Afternoon ) prayer.

While details of the blast are still sketchy, residents and local officials fear many worshippers were killed.

Head of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola operation, Abbani Imam Garki confirmed the blast to newsmen in Yola.

He, however, promised to disclose details of the blast and suspects responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, traders at Mubi market have said that, many people were killed following the attacks on Tuesday afternoon.

Malam Ibrahim Audu, a trader who spoke to DAILY POST on phone said he counted seven bodies at the first blast.

“The first suicide attack occurred while people were observing Zuhur prayers in the busy market’s mosque at 13:00pm,” he said.

Another eyewitness said, the bomber who was a young man wearing kaftan tried to gain access to the mosques but was stopped by security men at the mosque. ”He detonated the Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs strapped to his body and killed many including himself.”
