Manchester United Boss, Jose Mourinho, has explained why he didn’t play his summer signing Victor Lindelof during the Red Devil’s season opener against West Ham United at Old Trafford.
According to him, Lindelof will need time to settle down for English football since he endured a difficult pre-season.
Mourinho, who partnered Phil Jones and Eric Bailly in central defence during the match, said: “I think the Super Cup with Real Madrid was too early for him (Lindelof).
“He played game because Jones and Bailly were both suspended.
“I had players coming from different leagues to the Premier League and normally it is not easy.
“Lukaku and Matic have years of experience of the Premier League.
“Ricardo Carvalho was one of the best defenders in the history of the Premier League but in the beginning he struggled. Victor needs time and he will get time.”
