Liverpool legend, Steve Nicol, has predicted that Chelsea will “100 per cent” beat Manchester United in the Premier League clash today. He said this is because Chelsea will dominate the midfield at Old Trafford.

United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are fighting for the final two spots in the league top four.

Victory for the Blues at Old Trafford would take them six points clear of their opponents with just two games of the season remaining.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s men head into the game having lost seven of their last nine matches in all competitions.

Nicol cannot see anything other than a Chelsea win in the match.

“It’s hard to turn around and say yes [a team will take command in top-four battle],” Nicol told ESPN.

“We’ve actually been sat here for the last three or four weeks and we’ve been constantly asked ‘who’s going to be in the top four and who’s not going to make it?’.

“And every time we make a decision, somebody goes and throws a result in that completely upsets the applecart.

“But, the good thing about this game is Manchester United are so bad and so awful and not unpredictable quite frankly, because where’s a performance or a win coming from?

“And that’s why I can confidently say, I’m 100 per cent backing Chelsea here.

“I don’t remember the last time Man United actually dominated a midfield.

“We’ve been criticising Chelsea’s midfield, but this Chelsea side are far better in the middle of the park, for me, than United.

“And I think that’s why ultimately they’ll win the game Chelsea.

“The midfield will be in their control.”
