Manchester United are ready to hand Robin van Persie a £5million pay-off to leave the club this summer.
The Dutchman just returned to training this week after an injury spell and has 14 months left on his £250,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford.
The club officials are willing to pay him half of a £10m loyalty bonus — agreed when he moved from Arsenal in 2012.
Juventus and Inter Milan are keen on taking the striker to Serie A, but Van Persie will have to take a pay cut to make the transfer possible.
United want to take the 31-year-old off their books, to create space for another striker this summer, with Radamel Falcao expected to leave, after a hugely disappointing loan spell in England.
Javier Hernandez is also on the verge of leaving United, after his loan at Real Madrid.
