The BBC is reporting that Manchester United, has rejected Chelsea’s opening bid for Wayne Rooney, which involves cash and player swap.
Old Trafford senior officials have insisted publicly that the 27-year-old is not for sale, but it emerged yesterday that Rooney was left ‘angry and confused’ by David Moyes’ comments, which implied he was second fiddle to Robin van Persie.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho last week revealed his admiration for the unsettled player, saying: “Rooney is a player I like very much but I can say no more than that. Being fast and direct, I like that, but he’s a Manchester United player.”
Juan Mata or David Luis are reported to be the two players offered to United plus £10million cash, but it was flatly rejected. The Blues are expected to return with a second offer however.
