Manchester United are set to extend Jose Mourinho’s contract at the club, after only seven months as their manager.

According to The Sun, the club’s heirachy will sit down with Mourinho at the end of this season, to discuss a one-year extension to the three-year deal he signed last summer.

United chiefs are reported to be impressed with the former Chelsea manager’s impact at the club, despite the fact they are currently outside the top four on the table.

They are however convinced that with time, Mourinho will bring back the glory days.

It is also understood that in addition to the extended year, there could be the option for a further 12 months, effectively tying Mourinho to the club until 2022.

There is however no indication that the Portuguese’s wages will be increased, as he is already one of the highest-paid coaches in the world.

There is no indication as to whether a new contract will see the Portuguese’s wages increased – as he is already one of the highest earning managers in the world.

United play Saint-Etienne in the last-32 next week.
