Manchester United face May deadline to make move for Mourinho

Manchester United have until the beginning of May, to make an official offer for Jose Mourinho, if they want him to replace Louis van Gaal.

The Portuguese, who has been out of work since he was sacked in December by Chelsea, is eager to secure his next managerial position early ahead of the new season.

United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has so far hesitated in making any serious move, as he is a firm supporter of Van Gaal

Mourinho has so far turned down several offers and is very interested in the Old Trafford job. But it is believed that Van Gaal could still see out the final year of his contract at United, especially if the Red Devils finish the season strongly.
