Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has revealed what he told his players at the half time of their Derby clash against Manchester City on Saturday at The Etihad.

United went into the break two goals down after Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan scored for the hosts.

However, Paul Pogba scored twice after the interval, while Chris Smalling netted the winner as United won 3-2 and delayed their rivals’ title celebrations.

“I told them at half time my midfield players couldn’t play any better than they had been playing. I was actually asking more from my central defenders to play with the ball,” Mourinho told reporters after the game.

Mourinho also spoke on the importance of the win to the club and its supporters.

“I’m happy for the fans, I know it’s important for them to beat local teams. Now we’ve beaten Liverpool and City close.

“Even if Manchester United don’t win another title in 50 years, they are still Manchester United.

“We are not the team that people think we are, we aren’t as bad as people think we are, I’m not as bad a manager as people think I am and the players aren’t as bad as people think they are,” he added.
