Manchester City’s 5-3 win over Monaco on Tuesday night set a new Champions League record.
Raheem Sterling opened scoring for the hosts, converting Leroy Sane’s low cross, before Radamel Falcao made it 1-1 with a diving header.
Kylian Mbappe’s goal and another from Falcao appeared to set Monaco on their way to a 3-2 victory after the hour-mark, but goals from Sergio Aguero – his second of the night – John Stones and Leroy Sane turned the game on its head.
With a total of eight goals, the teams have set a record for the most total goals in a Champions League knockout round first leg.
The return leg will be played at the Stade Louis II in Monaco on March 15.
