Manchester City eye Ancelotti to replace Pellegrini

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly heading for the exit door and might replace Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.

The Italian is coming under increased pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu, following the La Liga club’s indifferent form recently, with former president Ramon Caldero admitting Ancelotti’s position has become “very difficult”.

“Ancelotti’s position is very difficult with handkerchiefs, protests at what they saw. Maybe he’s thinking of leaving, I don’t know,” Calderon said in an interview with talkSPORT.

“But I’m not sure the club or the coach knows either. It’s true he’s under pressure, but you always are. When you come to Real Madrid, presidents, coaches, players, all of them are under pressure.

“I wouldn’t say they are thinking of firing him, that would be very premature. I hope things can turn around. They are talking about (Joachim) Loew, the German national coach. I imagine they’ll decide that at end of season.”

Ancelotti has previously coached Chelsea in England and won the Premier League and FA Cup in his first year in charge at Stamford Bridge – the Blues’ first ever double. He was sacked by Roman Abramovich a year later.

City are also looking at the possibility of getting Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola.
