Manchester City have agreed a £20million deal – £17million plus £2.5m in add-ons – with AC Milan for Mario Balotelli’s transfer.
Although Juventus made a late bid to take the controversial striker, the 21-year-old Italian had his heart set on a move to his boyhood club and even accepted a pay-cut of almost £1million, to make the deal go through.
Balotelli moved to the Etihad in 2010, from AC Milan’s rivals, Inter, and has endured a turbulent time in England, mixing eccentricity with occasional brilliance.
He has pulled out of the squad for Tuesday’s Premier League game against QPR, to complete the move.
