Man Utd: Why Lukaku, Sanchez, Rashford dropped from – Rio Ferdinand

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has blamed manager, Jose Mourinho’s philosophy as the reason why Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford dropped form.

According to Ferdinand, Mourinho lacks idea on how to play his attackers together, a problem he said was affecting the forwards’ natural attacking instincts at United.

The former England international, however, believes the Premier League champions, Manchester City won the League title because their strikers were better than Mourinho’s men.

“On paper, this United side is as good as any team in the Premier League,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“If you put our attack against Man City’s players, there’s really not much between them.

“Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial against [Leroy] Sane, Raheem Sterling, [Gabriel] Jesus and [Sergio] Aguero.

“So City are not 19 points better in terms of just pure talent. But it’s about who gets put into the team. Also what kind of philosophy there is behind the squad, how they gel.

“City have done that better than United.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 on Saturday evening in the FA Cup final.

Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty was enough, as the Blues won their only silverware of this season.
