Man to marry dead woman in Ebonyi

A mild drama occurred in Enyi Igwe Village, Ezzainyimagu community, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as the family of a dead woman identified as Chinyere Mbam put on hold her burial rites until her lover, Stephen Mbam who she was living with prior to her death pays her bride price.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, Chinyere prior to her death was living with Mbam, for three years and their relationship produced a child though they were not legally married.

The report further stated that Chinyere died as a result of snake bite she sustained while returning from the wake keep of her friend, Oge Ogashi, adding that she was confirmed dead by her uncle Ishiali Ikwe, after she was taken to a traditional healing home in the area for treatment.

In line with the tradition, the deceased family ordered Mbam to perform the traditional marriage rite while putting the burial on hold.
