A 40-year-old man who killed a girl, 6, because he could not rape her was on Monday condemned to death by hanging by Justice Yelim S. Bogoro of the Bauchi State High Court.
Idris was arraigned by Barrister Dawud Yakubu, the State Director of Public Prosecutions on the charge of culpable homicide.
According to Dawud, Idris had on September 14, 2012, called the deceased into his room, with the intention of defiling her, adding that when the 6-year-old turned down his advances, Idris cut her head off using a knife and threw it into a water channel in a polythene bag.
Dawud told the court that the corpse of the girl was later discovered and taken to a General Hospital in Darazo for postmortem before been handed over to her parents for burial.
”I am so happy that this man has been brought to justice, yet so sad about the way this courageous young girl left the world in such a bitter and painful manner.
Justice Bogoro consequently sentenced Idris to death by hanging in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
