Vigilantes attached to the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Road in Warri, Delta State, have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly stealing a pot of soup.

The suspect, identified only as Oghenero was nabbed alongside his accomplice while they were consuming the stolen food.

In a related development, police patrol team in the state on Monday arrested no fewer than seven suspected robbers within Warri metropolis, at the notorious Otokutu axis.

According to the state police spokesperson who confirmed the incident to newsmen while parading the suspects on Tuesday, the suspects, who had been terrorising innocent citizens in several areas, met their waterloo when they walked into the police net.

“The hoodlums were arrested after they had robbed many people drinking champagne at the Otokutu axis.

“The police, acting on tip off, went after the robbers and intercepted them at a military checkpoint located at the entrance of Otokutu village.

“As soon as the robbers noticed that the police patrol vehicle was close to them, they started shooting sporadically into the air.

“The gun duel lasted for about 30 minutes, however, the police rounded up the robbers.

“Two pump action rifles and other dangerous weapons were found in their possession as at the time of arrest.
