Man remanded in prison for stoning lady to death

A 51-year-old man, Preston Ogilo, has been remanded in prison for allegedly stoning a lady simply identified as Lynda to death.

Ogilo was, on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun state on a one count charge of murder.

The prosecutor, Rosemary Samson, told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 11, in front of winners Chapel Church, Idiroko road, Ota.

He said that the accused unlawfully stoned the deceased to death.

According to her, the offence is punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, A.F Ojelade, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The case was adjourned till December 1 for mention.
