Man remanded in prison for 30 days over murder of his lover

One Isiaka Akanbi, 55, has been ordered to be remanded in Ikoyi prison for one month by an Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court for purportedly beating his girlfriend to death.

The accused who resides at No. 25, Salubi Street, Ajegunle, area of Lagos was dragged before Chief Magistrate Court for killing a 62-year-old woman, Risikatu Raheem, his lover.

Akanbi, in October 25, 2014 at about 7pm in a hotel in Apapa was said to have committed the offence.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, ordered that the accused be remanded following his arraignment for murder.

Akambi will be in prison custody for 30 days, until legal advice is gotten from the state Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Tanimola said.
