Man pleads with IG to investigate father’s death

Family members of the late Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain, Atoza Ihindan, who was recently murdered by gunmen operating on motorbike have called on the police to bring the killers to justice.

DAILY POST recalls that the victim, who until his death was Chairman, Governing Board, Benue State Polytechnic, was shot dead on July 17 while inspecting the perimeter fence of a property within Katsina-Ala town in Benue State.

Ihindan’s son, Terfa, who spoke in Abuja on Thursday, expressed confidence in the ability of the police to apprehend the killers of his father.

He accused Dickson Pawa, the Chief Security Officer to the Benue State Governor and one Moses Anaana as the masterminds of the murder, stating that Dickson had an unresolved political dispute with his father before he was gunned down in the presence of his police aide.

Terfa, however, lamented that, “When I contacted the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Austin Amaechi, he denied that Pawa was a suspect in the murder”.

“I’m not afraid to speak out because am not afraid to die for the cause of justice. As we speak, the police have not arrested Dickson and he is walking about free in Katsina-Ala,” the deceased’s son stated.

The bereaved also said, “I have proofs that Dickson Pawa conceived my father’s murder.”

He said a couple was also killed the same day his father was murdered, adding that one of the killers who was arrested by some youths, pointed out the same Dickson as the sponsor of the two killings.

“I am appealing to the IG to ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out,” he pleaded.

However, in a swift reacting to Terfa’s claims, the police spokesman said: “I spoke to the Commissioner of Police and he said that Terfa did not make any allegation against Dickson otherwise, he would have been asked to come forward and given a form to fill, and then we would invite the suspect.

“We still challenge him (Terfa) to come forward and make his claims if he has evidence, so we can make progress in the case. We have already made some arrests and investigation is ongoing.”
