The killing of a middle-aged man, Ikenna Iweagwu allegedly by his friend during a heated argument has sparked tension in Ibiegwu quarters, Ute Okpu, Ika North East Local Government area of Delta State.
Ikenna was allegedly stabbed to death on Sunday night by his friend whose name was simply given as Martins during a protracted argument that resulted in a fight.
Eyewitness, Mariam Iselowu told DAILY POST that the two friends were separated during their fight, but met few minutes later around a drinking joint where they both rented the air with unprintable words.
She added that in the ensuing intense argument, Iweagwu was allegedly stabbed with a knife to death.
The witness said, “The suspect stabbed his friend with a knife, and he died on the spot. The suspect tried to escape but he was handed over to the police by angry mob in the area”.
Sources said Ikenna, popularly called ‘Clear road’, had been having quarrels with the said friend mostly over minor issues, and was reportedly warned to steer clear off him, but refused.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said he has been moved to the state CID for further interrogation, adding that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
He added that the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the General Hospital in Boji Boji Agbor as investigation was ongoing.
