Man kills, buries teenage girl in Bauchi

The Bauchi State High Court number 6, on Friday, sentenced a 33-year-old man, Jaridu Ahmad, to death by hanging for killing an 11-years-old girl.

Justice Gurama Muhammad Mahmud found Ahmad guilty of culpable homicide punishable under Section 221 of the Penal Code Laws Cap 38, Vol.3 Laws of Bauchi State, 2007.

The judge held that the prosecution had proved the case against Jaridu beyond reasonable doubt.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Mahmud said that the accused, who was convicted for killing and burying Hajara Adamu’s corpse in a ‎room on 30th August, 2015, should die by hanging for his offence.

“On the whole therefore, I found you, Jaridu Ahmad, guilty of the ‎offence of Culpable Homicide punishable under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law Cap 38 Laws of Bauchi State 2007.

“Having confessed to doing an act which caused the death of one, Hajara Adamu with the intention of causing her death or knowing that the death will be the probable consequence of your act.

“As already stated, the punishment for this offence is death which is mandatory. ‎The sentence of the Court upon you, Jaridu is death, so that you will be hanged by your neck until you are certified dead,” Justice Mahmud said.
