A 19-year-old man, John Esiah, has been arrested by detectives attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command for defiling an 11-year-old girl at gunpoint in Umuogudu Akpu Ngbo Community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.
His arrest came after the ‘Safer Highway Team’ policemen acted following a tip-off.
Esiah was alleged to have intimidated the girl with a pistol before forcing her on his motorbike to a village where he had carnal knowledge of her.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, PRO, ASP George Okafor, who confirmed the arrest, the boy intimated his victim with a locally made gun.
The PPRO said: “One John Esiah, a native of Ndiagu Okpe of Umuogodakpu Ngbo was arrested by the ‘Safer Highway Team’ following information reported to the team.
“The team was told that the young man picked an 11-year-old girl on February 15 2016 at gunpoint at Otinyi Umuogoakpu Village, Ngbo Ohaukwu with locally made pistol.
“He intimidated the girl and raped her. He carried her away from the point and forced her on the motorbike. He took her to the village where he had canal knowledge of the girl.
“The boy has been arrested. The locally made gun, with two rounds of live ammunitions recovered from him,” Okafor said.
