Man in hospital docked for impersonating NESREA DG

A middle aged man, Jude Alagbado was on Wednesday arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu for allegedly impersonating as a staff of National Environmental Standard Regulatory and Enforcement Agency (NESREA).

Hearing on the matter, was, however, stalled owing to the absence of the suspect, whom his lawyer told the court was receiving treatment in hospital. When the matter came up.

Alagbado pleaded through his lawyer, Mr. Gabriel Uzoigwe for his inability to attend the session following his admission in a hospital in Kano.

The defence lawyer said the accused person was on his way to Kano to inform his elder sister about their mother’s death when he had an accident.

Uzoigwe further informed the court that he called the accused’s physician and he he was told he would be discharged in four months time.

Alagbado was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on the forgery of NESREA’s letter-headed papers to dupe some unsuspecting corporate bodies.

He was also alleged to have forged the signature of the Director-General of NESREA and illegally issued compliance verification demand notice and penal fees to the organisations.

After listening to the appeal, the trial judge, Justice D.V. Agishi adjourned the matter till June 19 to enable the accused person recover from his ailment.
