A -28- year- old Man, Sunday Stephen was on Tuesday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing different types of mobile phones worth N81,500.
The defendant is standing trial on a one count charge of stealing.
While testifying in court, the prosecutor, Insp. Peter Nwangwu said Stephen committed the offence on September 16 at No 98 Ibari, Old Ota road, Alagbado area of the state.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant went into the shop of one Tayo Oni under the pretext of buying some phones and made away with some phones.
“He carted away a Nokia phone valued at N21,500 and four other mobile phones all valued at N60,000, belonging to one Tayo Oni.
“The accused was later apprehended after the complainant reported the incident to the police,’’ he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Stephen however pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs T.O Shomade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Shomade adjourned the case to October 28 for mention.
