Man identifies those who killed his son in Lagos, says they must be prosecuted

Chief Anida Fowotade Alapini, father of the commercial motorcyclist, Monsuru Alapini, who was reportedly killed by cultists in Oworonsoki, Lagos, on Valentine’s Day, says he knows those who killed his son.

Monsuru was reportedly stabbed on the chest at ferry area of Oworonshoki and died on his way to Gbagada General Hospital.

Alapini, in a statement made available to The Punch yesterday, urged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase to bring the killers to book.

Wife of the deceased, Damiliola, is also demanding justice.

She said, “Those who killed my husband deserve to die.”

According to the father of the deceased, “There was a Valentine Day party somewhere very close to the Oloworo of Oworonshoki Palace, one of the secret boys members who had been having running battle with my son, simply identified as Small, engaged him in an argument and within minutes, he drew out a dagger and stabbed my son in the chest. He slumped immediately.”

He identified one Sondoko as the leader of the group that allegedly killed his son.

He said, “Small ran and was pursued by a group. He escaped into a place where Sondoko led Obasanjo, Bayo, Labaika, Idris, Kabiru, Waidi and a host of other thugs to ward off those pursuing Small.

“They came out with guns and opened fire on the crowd. A lot of people sustained gunshot wounds and this led to the crowd retreating and they visited their anger on a two-storey building.

“The situation eventually got out of hands as hoodlums hijacked it, spreading to adjoining streets like Miyaki, L&K, Akerele etc.”

“The police arrested the wrong people and also took side in the dispute.

“Sese, a cousin to the deceased who tried to help him when he was stabbed is among those being held by the police,

“The Police at D4 (Homicide Section), Panti stepped in. They invited a top chief to their station and within hours, he was back in his house. We understand he was asked to produce Sondoko and the rest of them, but till date, nothing has happened.

“It is like justice has been murdered. I call on the IGP, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Oba Rilwanu Akiolu to please intervene to ensure that those who killed my son are brought to book,” Alapini added.
