Man docked over alleged breach of public peace in Osogbo

A 52-year-old man, Morufu Olaitan, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of public peace.

Olaitan is facing a two-count-charge of malicious damage and breach of public peace.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Ajayi, told the court that the accused committed the offense on Jan. 10 at about 3:00pm at Kelebe area, Osogbo.

Ajayi said Olaitan entered into the land of one Ibrahim Amoo which led to the breach of public peace within the domain.

He said the accused damaged a corner piece of the land owned by the complainant for no genuine reason.

He said the offense committed contravened sections 81 and 451 of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun. 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the two count charges.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Taofik Adegboyega, prayed the Magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties in the like sum.

Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and two passport photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned to Feb.14 for mention.
