Thirty-two-year-old Wasiu Kareem was on Friday arraigned at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly stealing N120, 000 belonging to his girlfriend whose name was given as Balogun Kudirat.
According to reports, the accused who resides at No. 4 Olowolagba Street, Ikorodu, was also alleged to have burgled Kudirat’s apartment.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Ajiteru Mary, told the court that Kareem committed the offences on October 19 at his girlfriend’s residence.
Speaking in court, the prosecutor said, “It was learnt that the accused and one Kudirat Balogun had been dating for some time and he was living in his lover’s apartment.
Mary said they both had a misunderstanding and the lover sent the accused parking. However, he came back to burgle his lover’s apartment and stole N120, 000.
“The case was reported to the police and he was arrested,” Mary noted, adding that “the offences contravened Section 385(a) and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”
Meanwhile, the accused reportedly pleaded not guilty.
The Court Magistrate, Mr. O.O. Olatunji, reportedly granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties.
He ruled that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and must be living within the magisterial jurisdiction.
The Magistrate adjourned the case to November 26 for mention.
