Man declared wanted for killing cousin in Imo

The Imo State Commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, has declared one Obinna Ozoemena wanted for allegedly killing his cousin, Innocent Ekaeje.

It was learnt that the 31-year-old victim had just arrived from his base in Lagos for a burial ceremony in his family before his untimely death.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Andrew Enwerem, speaking on the incident said that the CP had instructed the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to take over the matter.

He stated that the suspect, who was still at large, was being trailed by the operatives of the command.

Enwerem said, “The victim and suspects are indigenes of Umunchi in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

“A formal complaint was lodged at the Ishiebu Police Division which is close to the scene of the incident.

“They both attacked themselves with cutlasses on Friday and were admitted at Ibezim Hospital, Mbano. Innocent Ukaeje was later referred to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri. We received the news on Sunday that Ekaeje had died.

“Our operatives went to the house to arrest the suspect, but he escaped.

“The CP has ordered a full investigation into the matter.”
