The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State, has declared wanted a middle-aged man, Haruna Abdulkadir, from Daddare, Obi Local Government Area for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the area.
The state NSCDC commandant, Mohammed Mahmoud-Fari, told journalists on Monday in Lafia that the suspect, currently at large, had on Saturday allegedly defiled the minor and fled the community.
Mahmoud-Fari said that when the news broke out on the defilement, family and relatives of the victim accosted the suspect and, in the process, an altercation ensued between them and friends of the suspect.
He said, “Friends of the suspects inflicted bodily harm on the relatives of the victims and were arrested by the NSCDC following the report of the incident.”
According to Mahmoud-Fari, a preliminary investigation and medical observation of the victim revealed that there was penetration, saying, however, she tested negative to sexually transmitted infections.
The commandant, however, said the command would not relent until the suspect was apprehended and brought to Justice in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
