Man claims he beat 11-year-old son to death after he had sex with his kid sister

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command at the weekend arrested a 34-year-old man identified simply as Solomon for allegedly beating his 11-year-old son, Victor, to death.

Solomon killed his 11-year-old son after he allegedly caught him having sex with his eight-year-old sister.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Wilson Inalegwu, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said the suspect, a resident of Tasha Gwagwa area, a suburb of Abuja, has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, of the Command.

Solomon, who hails from Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, said he had been receiving several reports on the act.

He said, “Victor was my son, an 11-year-old boy. I had been receiving bad reports about him. The height of it was that he started sleeping with his sister, who is eight-years-old.

“Around 4.00 pm, I came back from work and met Victor sleeping with his sister in my bedroom. The stepmother was not at home.

“In anger and a bid to punish him, I picked up a stick and beat him severely.

“In the process, he began convulsing and then lost consciousness the next day. He was rushed to the Gwarinpa General Hospital by the neighbours where he died soon after he got to the hospital.

“I was not at home on the day he lost consciousness.

“My neighbours summoned me to the hospital by phone and when I got to there, I was told my son had died from internal bleeding as a result of the severe beating I had given him a day earlier.

“I wept when the doctor told me that my son had died.

“I didn’t have the intention to kill my son. I was trying to correct him because of the immoral act he committed.

“How can I beat my son to death? I couldn’t believe what I saw. I only acted in anger; I never wanted to kill my son,” Solomon said.

Solomon’s arrest reportedly came after the doctor at the Gwarinpa hospital called officers from a nearby police station.
