Man City vs Man United: Silva identifies team with upper hand in Premier League derby

Manchester City midfield maestro, David Silva has said that his side would have the upper hand over Manchester United when both teams clash on Sunday evening in the Premier League derby at the Etihad Stadium.

City head to the game after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 in the Champions League encounter played on Wednesday night, while United defeated Juventus 2-1.

The most recent clash between the two teams saw Jose Mourinho’s side defeat Pep Guardiola’s men 3-2 at Etihad back in April.

But Silva believes that City now have the upper hand to beat United at home this weekend.

“If you are telling me that statistic, it is a good statistic that we haven’t finished below United since he [Ferguson] left, so maybe that is good evidence,” Silva told ESPN.

“The derby has changed since my time here. A key turning point was the 6-1 at their place — I think things have changed since then.

“When they come to play us here or anywhere, they probably have higher respect for us than before.

“The respect is always there, no matter who you are playing, but maybe now, the way in which City are viewed by United has changed and maybe we have got the upper hand.”

The kick-off time for the match is 5:30pm.
