Man bags one-month jail term for stealing seven pieces meats in Ogun

A 28-year-old man, was, on Monday, sentenced to one month jail term by an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for breaking into a shop and making away with seven pieces of meats from a pot.

The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, while delivering her judgement, sentenced the accused to one month imprisonment with an option of N5,000 fine.

The accused was arraigned on a two count charge of stealing and burglary.

According to the Prosecutor, Rosemary Brown, while testifying before the court, the accused committed the offence on June 25 at about 6am at Ire-Akari Street, Ota, Ogun State.

Brown told the court that the convict broke into the shop of the complainant, one Akinola Olamilekan and made away with seven pieces of meat from a pot worth N700.

The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Revised Laws of Ogun, 2006.
