One Abdullahi Mohammed from Mabushi area of Abuja was on Thursday jailed for three weeks by an Abuja Senior Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a generator worth N120, 000.
Mohammed was said to have conspired with one Tunde to commit the crime. Tunde is currently on the run as security men are said to be after him.
Meanwhile, the accused, after being found guilty was sentenced by the Magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa.
Shafa while delivering his judgement said, “The convict is hereby sentenced to three weeks in prison without any option of fine. “This is to serve as a lesson to you and others like you, who think that stealing must be a means to make a living.”
The prosecutor, Cpl Monday Akor, in his testimony before the Court said on March 5, one Yusuf Brima of Bwari Area Council reported the case at the Maitama police station.
Akor further said that the convict and one Tunde, who is now on the run conspired and stole one 5.5kv Sumec Fireman generator, worth N120, 000, belonging to the complainant.
He further stated that the law contravened sections 79 and 288 of the Penal Code Law.
