One Ekene Ugwu who allegedly killed a taxi driver identified as Anthony Sunday Nnamani has been apprehended by men of the Enugu State Police Command.
Ugwu was nabbed by men of Udenu Police Division following a tipoff from members of the public.
The suspect was alleged to have hired the cab driver to convey him to a destination, but while in transit, Ugwu was said to have slit the driver’s throat using a cutlass.
An eyewitness who suspected that it was a case of ritual killing, raised an alarm, which attracted security operatives to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect. The driver however died on the spot.
Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident said the suspect was assisting the police in its investigation into the incident.
