A 32-year-old man, Benjamin Agbogu, was yesterday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N10 million.

Agbogu is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, preferred against him by the Police.

The prosecutor, ASP Henry Obiazi, told the court that the defendant and others still at large committed the alleged offences sometime in April 2016, at Festac Town, Lagos.

Obiazi alleged that the defendant accosted the complainant, one Chukwu Chinedu, and forcefully stole N10 million from him.

The offences are punishable under Sections 287 (5) (a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The magistrate, Mr. B. A. Sonuga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

He said the sureties must be gainfully employed, and must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified.

The case was adjourned until December 5 for mention.
