Man allegedly stabs neighbour over witchcraft allegation


One Abuchi Simon, 37, who allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Ehis Ibhaze over allegation of witchcraft, has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ court, Lagos State, PM News reports.

Simon, who accused Ibhaze of waging spiritual war against his family through witchcraft, which he claimed hindered his progress in life, allegedly stabbed his victim several times.

Simon reportedly attacked Ibhaze with a knife in the bathroom when he went to take his bath in the evening at their residence 14, Ifelodun Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos.

According to reports, both Simon and Ibhaze are married with children, but both families have been at loggerheads, while their neighbours have made every effort to settle their quarrels to no avail.

Neighbours who rushed to the bathroom to rescue Ibhaze who was bleeding profusely after he was stabbed, alleged that Simon had accused Ibhaze for attacking him spiritually and threatened he would kill him if he did not desist from the attack on his family.

He was said to have been rushed to an unidentified hospital where he is being treated.

Meanwhile, the matter was reported to the police and Simon was arrested and taken to the station. He was thereafter charged to court, where he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Joy Ugbomoiko, however, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ugbomoiko ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.

The case was adjourned till November 25 for mention.
