Man abducts, defiles two boys; one tests positive to HIV

A man in Yola town, Yola South LGA of Adamawa State, Adamu Abdurahman, is now in the eye of the storm for allegedly abducting two teenage boys and having carnal knowledge of them, with one testing positive to HIV.

Investigation by DAILY POST revealed that while one of the boys, 16-year-old Cosmos Martins, is missing, with the man claiming that he sent the boy back to where he came from, the one who escaped from the man and is currently in the custody of a guardian, 17-year-old Sani Fidelis, has been found to be infected with HIV.

The two boys had travelled to Yola last month from their homes in Mubi, a town in the northern fringe of the state, to look for menial jobs at the state capital and had ran into Adamu Abdurahman, who pretended to be the head of the ward in Yola town where he met with the boys, and took them to his house on the strength of that claim.

Phillip Wasa, the guardian of the 17-year-old Sani Fidelis, who disclosed this, said the teenager’s HIV status was established after he was taken to hospital upon his falling ill some days after his subjection to anal sex by his captor.

The matter is currently in a Yola magistrate court which on Thursday declined an application of bail filed by the counsel to the accused, Barr. Friday Charles, who had pleaded that the offence is bailable and that the accused is a Yola resident who had undertaken to avail his presence anytime it might be required.

Countering this plea, the police prosecutor, ASP Abdullahi Abubakar, had urged the court to reject the application for bail, as the accused might jeopardise police investigations if freed on bail.

Ruling on the bail application, the magistrate presiding over the case, Hon Jummai Ibrahim, said the offence with which the accused was charged is not bailable as it is capital in nature.

She, therefore, ordered the remand of the accused in prison and adjourned further mention of the case to May 22, 2019.

A first information report (FIR) on the case made available to our correspondent on Thursday, dates the matter to April 4 when it was first reported to the police. The FIR is entitled, “Abduction with Intent to Commit Culpable Homicide and Wrongful Confinement on 4/4/2019.”

It reads, “One Sani Fidelis of Muchalla in Mubi South LGA of Adamawa State reported to the police that sometime in March 2019, at Ungwa Magaji Ward in Yola town, (one Adamu Abdurahman) abducted him and Cosmos Martins to an unknown destination and offered them intoxicated drugs and had carnal knowledge of them through their anus.

“Few days later, Sani Fidelis was found sick and admitted into the Specialist Hospital in Yola, while Martins Cosmos is missing. Adamu Abdurahman was arraigned in court on 10/4/2019.”
