Man, 70, arrested for repeatedly raping 7-year-old orphan in Ebonyi

A-70-year old man, one Simon Alobu, popularly known as Papa Eke who hails from Akpoha community in Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi state has been arrested by the state police command for allegedly hypnotizing and repeatedly raping a 7-year-old orphan, Ms Favour (surname withheld).

The suspect was handed over to the police by a special court in the state, Family law centre, which is handling the matter.

DAILY POST gathered that the victim, little Ms Favour, moved to her maternal house where her aunt lives following the death of her parents.

Alobu was also living in the same compound with the girl and her aunt.

It was gathered also that the matter was reported to the law centre by the victim’s aunt who alleged that the man also raped her when she was so tender.

Narrating her ordeals in the hands of Alobu, the victim said “the man said I should come and prepare food for him.

“After preparing the food, my brother who was with me said he was not eating the food and left immediately.

“When my brother left and I was still eating, the man locked the door and carried me to his bed and raped me.”

Favour was first raped in 2014 by Alobu. Since then, the man has been raping her.

The girl’s aunt became aware of Favours condition after she complained of severe pains in her private part.

According to the woman, she took the girl to Afikpo where the rape was confirmed, why efforts to make her reveal the identity of the rapist failed as he continued the act till this year.

“Favour confessed by herself and we went to the man and he agreed that he is the one raping Favour and that he has raped her five times”, she said.

The suspected rapist mutilated Favour’s bottom with razor blade where he presumably apply some charms to prevent the girl from revealing his identity.

The suspect confessed that he has had carnal knowledge of the girl and that he did it under the influence of alcohol.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Loveth Odah said the suspect was in police custody and would be arraigned in court soon.
