Former Minister Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan, has spoken on her exit from the APC and defection to the United Democratic Party, UDP.

On Saturday, Mama Taraba resigned her membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also quit the Buhari government.

On Twitter, Alhassan said she left the APC with all local government party leaders as well as some state lawmakers.

She tweeted: “I have officially JOINED my next POLITICAL PARTY with 7 state Assembly Members, all @APCNigeria executives from 169 wards of Taraba State. All 16 local Government exco’s of APC All states executives of APC, we are now in UDP.”

In her letter to the President dated Saturday, 29 September, 2018, the former Minister thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity to serve.

She recalled how she was duly screened and cleared before her appointment and how she also notified the President of her interest in contesting for the Taraba governorship seat.

Alhassan stated that all through her sojourn up to collection of form and mobilisation for the Presidential and Gubernatorial primaries, she kept the President Buhari in the know.

Alhassan lamented that she was disqualified by the APC from contesting the governorship seat and more troubled when no reason was given.

According to her, it would be out of place for her to remain as a Minister in the government when the party that formed the government does not find her qualified to be a governor.
