But Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho sealed victory for the Catalans in the opening 28 minutes of the encounter at the Estadio La Rosaleda.
The hosts saw Samuel Garcia sent off after only half an hour and Barca took their foot off the gas in the second half, strolling to a comfortable win.
The LaLiga leaders now have 72 points and are still 15 points ahead of Real Madrid, who defeated Eibar 2-1.
