The House of Representatives has said it will take a decisive action against former President, Goodluck Jonathan for refusing to appear before it over his involvement in the Malabu oil deal.

Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Justice and member representing Asa/Ilorin-West Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Razak Atunwa, said this in an interview with Punch.

Jonathan, who was summoned by the House committee probing the Malabu oil scandal, has failed to honour the invitation.

Atunwa told Punch, “Yes, there was an invitation and it was also left to the former president to make a representation.

“Unfortunately, Jonathan hasn’t replied. We will take a decision as to actions, if any, on that aspect. We didn’t ask him for representation trivially; it is a serious matter.

“As I said, he was the President at the time of the alleged (Malabu oil) deal with the former Attorney General (Mohammed Adoke) and his ministers (Diezani Alison- Madueke and others).

“Jonathan was mentioned in the Italian proceedings on the matter. He was also mentioned in the United Kingdom. As a committee, we will take further decisions.

“We are at the tail end already. It is taking time because the situation has been fluid, regarding the action filed in court by the Italian prosecutors. We will come up with our report shortly.”
